At the opening ceremony of Youth Olympic Games 2018 in Buenos Aires tonight, pole vaulter Eerik Haamer has been selected as flagbearer for the Estonian delegation.

17-year-old Eerik Haamer was bronze medalist at European Athletics U18 Championships 2018 in Györ with the new U18 national record 5.10.

Estonia has the largest ever team comprising 23 athletes to the Youth Olympic Games, which will be held on 6-18 October in Buenos Aires. Our athletes represent eight sports, which is also a record number for Estonia; moreover, in half of these the country is competing for the first time.

The opening ceremony of Youth Olympic Games is scheduled to begin on Saturday at 20 (Sunday at 2am Estonian time). Olympic Channel is live streaming the ceremony, and it is also available at www.eok.ee/buenos-aires
