Organization

Estonian Olympic Committee is the umbrella organization of Estonian sport, responsible for elite sport, youth sport and sport for all and including both Olympic as well as non-Olympic sports.

The current Estonian Olympic Committee was established in 2001 when two major organizations were merged - the Olympic-focused Estonian Olympic Committee and the umbrella for all sports organizations Estonian Sports Association. Both of these organizations dated back to 1923 - the former restored in 1989 and the latter a year later.

Estonian Olympic Committee is an independent non-governmental organization, which participates in the international Olympic movement. Our members are national sport federations, national sport associations, regional sport associations and individuals chosen based on the Olympic Charter. We cooperate with various governmental institutions, other non-governmental organizations and business companies.

Estonian Olympic Committee is a member of Association of National Olympic Committees and European Olympic Committees.
