Medal bonus system

Based on the decree of Government of Estonia issued in 2014, the Estonian Olympic Committee is responsible for awarding bonuses to athletes and coaches who have won medals from international championships.

According to the NOC Executive Committee's decision, bonuses to are awarded based on the following principles:

Olympic disciplines

Olympic Games
  • Gold medal 100 000 EUR
  • Silver medal 70 000 EUR
  • Bronze medal 45 000 EUR
World Championships
  • Gold medal 50 000 EUR
  • Silver medal 20 000 EUR
  • Bronze medal 15 000 EUR
European Championships
  • Gold medal 15 000 EUR
  • Silver medal 10 000 EUR
  • Bronze medal 5000 EUR

Juniors and U23 in Olympic disciplines

World Championships
  • Gold medal 5000 EUR
  • Silver medal 3000 EUR
  • Bronze medal 2000 EUR
European Championships 
  • Gold medal 4000 EUR
  • Silver medal 2000 EUR
  • Bronze medal 1000 EUR


Bonuses for World Championships
A minimum of 6 countries and 10 competitors must take part in the World Championships. In case fewer countries or competitors take part, a coefficient of 50% is applied to the bonus sum.

Bonuses for teams

Team of two members - the bonus sum is divided between two athletes.
Team of four or more members - double the bonus sum divided by the number of athletes in the team.

Non-Olympic sports

Bonuses are awarded for adult competitions:
  • World Championships gold medal
  • European Championships gold medal
  • Bonus sums are decided by the NOC Executive Committee at the end of each year.

Other major competitions

Bonuses for results in other major international competitions will be decided by the NOC Executive Committee in the amount of up to 40 000 EUR.


Coach will receive an award bonus in the sum of up to 50% in the value of the athlete's bonus.
