From 23 to 30 September 2021 Estonia will organise the Week of Sport for the seventh time. The Estonian Olympic Committee and the association Sports for All invite all Estonian residents to more actively engage in fitness-related activities and to participate in the Week of Sport challenge. Participation in the challenge is free and open for everyone.

According to Peeter Lusmägi, head of Sport for All of the Estonian Olympic Committee, the goal of the challenge is to increase the number of Estonian residents who regularly engage in fitness activities. “According to studies of physical activity in Estonia, only ca 40% of adults and just a fifth of schoolchildren get sufficient physical load. Positive impacts of fitness activities are well known – better health, higher ability to study and work, prevention of lifestyle-related illnesses, bigger number of years of healthy life, better mood, and less stress. I hope that those who accept the invitation of the Week of Sport in September will acquire a permanent habit of practicing all sorts of fitness-related activities, and manage to draw their family members, friends and workmates to them as well”, said Lusmägi.
